When you talk to Cheyney’s faculty, staff, returning students, and alumni, you’ll hear a common refrain: This is a new Cheyney! As Cheyney alumnus, Darien Threadgill, put it, “Cheyney is the oldest HBCU doing the newest things!”
A new vision. A new trajectory. A new leadership team. A new applied research institute. New strategic alliances. New internship opportunities. A new and cutting-edge approach to our students’ success. And a renewed commitment to excellence. This is the spirit of innovation that drives Cheyney today.
But then again–innovation is nothing new for us. As the nation’s first institution of higher learning for African Americans, that’s been our hallmark for over 180 years.
